They're Back. It's Time to Go Green.

Source: Delish.com

They're back folks. (Almost) everybody's favorite shake of the year is once again available at McDonald's. The legendary Shamrock Shake is back because of how close we are to St. Patrick's Day.

Seeing as one of my favorite desert options is now available...down the block from my apartment... another food-related blog post was needed. As soon as I found out Shamrock Shakes were available, I was in the McDonald's drive-thru lane. After our intramural hockey game victory, (ok, so maybe the other team didn't show up), my buddy Colin and I drove over to Mickey D's and got the green version of heaven. Wow. It was just like I remembered. The delicious mint flavor was amazing and the thickness of the shake was perfect. I am definitely looking forward to many more Shamrock Shakes throughout this spring.

One of my favorites stories I always tell about Shamrock Shakes is how I was able to achieve one in June one time in my hometown in West Chicagoland. Apparently they serve the shakes until their syrup runs out. This allows enthusiasts such as myself to purchase Shamrock Shakes late into the summertime and enjoy a cool mint shake on a hot summer day.

Some readers commented on my grading scale last week on my Quesalupa. I will clear the rumors and say yes, there is a scale. Don't ask the details.

Grade: A

  1. I've never been a fan of these! They taste like chalk to me. I don't think they are all that great, and I think I may be one of the only people that has that opinion. But I am happy your favorite shake is back!

  2. I always enjoy the time of the year when Shamrock Shakes come out! One time the McDonald's on Main street forgot to top it off with the cherry. I was not happy!

  3. I'm with Kayla here. Really never liked the shamrock shakes... The taste of mint isn't something I associate with St. Patty's day, and they were never worth the cost either! They were always around $2.50 for a small where I live...
